New Features & UI/UX Improvements on the Major Apps

This article focuses on major UI/UX changes that have been made by major apps this year.

Note: Majorly the changes I will talk about are what I observed on android.

Amazon

Amazon really transformed their UI and made it more comforting to use. Amazon has removed the left sidebar instead there’s a footer bar. In the footer bar, there are four buttons :

1. Home
2. User Profile
3. Wishlist or In the cart
4. Menu button or Tribar

On the Hamburger icon(Menu Button, I love it to call Hamburger icon), it comes with a screen which shows, amazon pay, mini tv and other major services and product columns.

Also, it displays four more buttons on the bottom just above the footer bar, which include: Orders, Buy Again, Account and List.

Basically Menu button for connecting all the other buttons in one place.

Telegram

Telegram provides many new features and UI/UX Improvements on a regular basis. Telegram really puts more effort into being cleaner and user-friendly for users.

In the month, they released some major updates :

1. Picture-In-Picture

Which you can easily drag, and cancel by tapping on X and zooming it to make the screen bigger.

2. Instant Configure Bot Admins

You can add bots to your group or channel from their profile and immediately configure their admin rights.

3. Bot Revolution

More into the bot feature, you can now create infinitely flexible interfaces. For reference, you can visit the profile @DurgerKingBot on Telegram.

4. Replies in Forwarded Messages

You can now reply to forwarded messages on telegram.

5. Improved Auto-Delete

You can now turn on auto-delete chats with custom duration options.

6. Custom Mute Durations

You can make the notifications silent or disabled for custom people for a specific period of time, likewise in Whatsapp.

7. Custom Notification Sound

You can add short audio files or voice messages for notification sound purposes.

These are some major updates about Telegram.

This change, I think is in the testing to make it better and user-friendly with everyone’s space.

So, on major apps, you can see if the person is typing or not, but on Telegram (for some days maybe or some test release) you can see if the person is reading your texts or not. (…reading: like this)

Spotify

Spotify crisps the transformation by making it somewhat different from previous updates. I would say this must be the major UI icon improvement since the day it was released. Spotify really put efforts into experimenting with different perspectives like their music ads.

Twitter

Twitter released some major improvements this year. You will be amazed to know these and will wonder how they easily fit in and we get to use it.

Major improvements are :

1. Feedback for every tweet’s notification on the notification bar.

In general, you can click on your thumb up and down for approving and improving your feed’s notifications which makes it easier to know users' areas of interest with the passage of time.

2. Spaces Icon added to the Footer

Spaces icon has been added as they released spaces after the people’s urge to join the clubhouse. Twitter experimented by releasing the feature the name Spaces. Guess what, it performed over the expectation of every tweeter using it. From Web3, Crypto to Chai Adda and Decisions like group spaces were initiated by a famous Twitter user.

3. Author under the profile images

We all know that Twitter is full-thread culture. Tweets are connected like a thread for all the next occurring tweets in proper order.

In this update, if any Twitterati writes a tweet and attaches more in the following like thread, under the profile picture you can easily see the author.

From my point of view after the first glance, I think, it is released to make twitter threads more cleaner for every user connecting to that thread. It will distinguish between people adding replies to the tweets in the same thread from the author .

These are the major updates and improvements I observed in the year 2022.
